Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead and grow our national family support services for disabled children, young people, and their families. As Head of Advice, Information and Family Support, you will be responsible for the strategic development, delivery, and quality assurance of a broad portfolio of non-clinical family services—ranging from emotional and practical support to peer networks, parenting guidance, and tailored one-to-one interventions.

You will be a confident leader with extensive experience managing family-facing services, ideally within health, social care, or community settings, and possess a strong track record of working closely with commissioners and local authorities to secure funding and shape service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Service Development

• Lead the strategic development of our national family support services, ensuring they are responsive, evidence-informed, and outcomes-focused.
• Identify opportunities for service innovation and expansion, particularly in response to commissioning priorities and gaps in local provision.
• Ensure alignment with organisational goals, sector best practice, and the diverse needs of disabled children and their families.

Commissioning and Partnership Engagement

• Build and maintain excellent working relationships with local authority commissioners, Integrated Care Boards, and strategic partners to influence commissioning decisions and secure long-term funding.
• Lead on tender submissions, funding proposals, and service agreements, ensuring alignment with local priorities and national policy developments.

Service Management and Quality Assurance

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and performance of a wide range of family support services, ensuring high standards of delivery and consistency across regions.
• Implement robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks, using data, feedback, and impact reports to inform service improvements and demonstrate outcomes to funders and stakeholders.

Person Specification

Essential

• Substantial leadership experience within family support services, children’s services, or similar community-based roles.

• Strong strategic and operational skills with the ability to manage complex, multi-faceted services.

Desirable

This varied role is responsible for ensuring that our office runs smoothly, and that key corporate and HR processes and procedures comply with the law, our policies and agreed internal standards.

Smart Works is looking for a Head of Data & Impact to play a pivotal part in ensuring that Smart Works is a data-driven organisation, where insight and analysis underpin strategic decision-making and service delivery. 

At its core, this position is responsible for overseeing the how the charity measures impact. The successful candidate will lead on management of the charity’s central database—used across all centres—to manage client, volunteer and referrer information. This includes coordinating system updates, working with external contractors, and maintaining data integrity and functionality across the board.

About You

The Central Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting the Central Operations Manager with administrative support for the Society, which includes finance administration, membership and grants administration and journal sales processing. There is also a requirement for the postholder to support with some facilities management and office support activities.
The postholder will contribute to and support the Central Operations Manager and the Chief Operations Officer in the delivery of all of the Trustee Board’s strategic objectives and particularly in relation to long-term sustainability by maximising cost savings and efficiencies.

The Personal Assistant (PA) to the Rector at St Aldates plays a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing smooth and efficient operation of the Rector’s office. This role involves managing a wide range of administrative and organisational tasks to support the Rector.

• Manage tickets, travel, and accommodation: Organise logistics for conferences and trips.

The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing effective professional internal and external communications strategies for the Diocese to support the Diocesan Bishop and senior leaders as part of the Mission of the Church. You will lead and manage a small, dedicated communications team of two direct reports: Creative and Digital Communications Officer and Webmaster.

As Communications Manager you will oversee the Diocese’s media relations including proactive engagement with journalists and responding to press inquiries. Produce high-quality written and visual content, including newsletters, social media posts, and annual reports. Manage and enhance the Diocese’s digital presence, including website and intranet development. Support key diocesan campaigns and initiatives to increase engagement and giving. Represent the Diocese at events, with occasional travel across the Diocese including the Channel Islands. Some out-of-hours availability is required and a full clean driving licence and access to own transport. This role ensures consistency and professionalism in all communications, to promote the Diocesan vision of bringing people closer to Jesus Christ through his Church.

The postholder will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and senior leadership team to support the Diocesan 10-year Mission Plan, ‘You Will Be My Witnesses.’

This role is based at St. Edmund House, Bishop Crispian Way, Portsmouth, PO1 3QA. Offering a competitive salary of £45,000 - £48,000 depending on experience, working 37.5 hours per week. 1. Main Duties

Communications Strategy

• Design, develop, and implement the Diocese’s Communications Strategy which is fully aligned with the Diocese ten-year Mission plan.
• Research and identify appropriate methods and channels including secular and religious media to raise the Diocese’s profile and in turn that of the Catholic church.
• Collaborate with partners, such as the Bishops Conference of England and Wales to help shape and influence public policy aligned with Diocesan objectives.

 External Communications

• Proactively identify opportunities for promoting positive news about the work of the diocese and enabling the Diocesan Bishop to contribute to thought leadership and public debate on relevant policies.
• Drafting material appropriate for publication.
• Arranging video to support key diocesan publications such as Bishops Pastoral Letters.
• Build and develop the Diocese’s links with press and media to support strategic objectives.
• Act as the point of contact for sensitive news, advising the Bishop and senior staff about media handling.
• Act as the Diocesan spokesperson when required, providing a positive and supportive representation of the Catholic Church and the Diocese.
• Develop and implement a Crisis Communications Plan, crafting media statements and briefing senior colleagues on media lines to take.

• Manage communication channels such as the intranet, regular newsletters, and staff briefings to ensure alignment with Diocesan values and goals.
• Work with Bishops office on key publications such as the annual directory.  

Website and Digital Presence

• Oversee the ongoing improvements in the functionality of the Diocesan website, ensuring it is engaging, user-friendly, up to date and supports the Bishop’s vision.
• Introduce interactive and video content to enhance user experience.
• Support parishes in developing and maintaining their local websites.

 Support to Key Departments

• Collaborate with key departments to design and implement tailored communication strategies. For example, Safeguarding.
• Provide tools, templates, and guidance to ensure consistent and effective messaging across departments.
• Act as ‘brand champion’, developing, overseeing and implementing brand guidelines to professionalise and standardise all external communications output, whether it emanates from within or outside the Communications department.
• Build and maintain strong positive working relationships across the DSAS and wider Diocese to support the successful delivery of the communications strategy'

Meeting Attendance and Reporting

• Attend meetings of the Finance Audit and Risk Committee and any other meetings required, to provide briefings, regular written reports and seek approvals as needed from the Board of Trustees about Communication related matters.
• Support the work of Multidisciplinary meetings that may be called form time to time to deal with extraordinary events.
• Attend in person meetings in parishes across the Diocese where sensitive matters indicate that an in-person meeting is preferable.

Team Management

• Provide leadership, direction, and line management to the Communications team, ensuring objectives are met.

Job Title: Individual Giving Officer

Contract type: Permanent; Full-time (35 hours a week)

We offer flexible and hybrid working, but office-based work will be expected regularly.

Main purpose of role:

The primary purpose of this role is to develop and deliver innovative direct marketing campaigns that drive donor engagement across our regular giving and cash programmes. As an Individual Giving Officer, you will play a crucial role in shaping our fundraising program. A highlight of this opportunity is supporting the delivery of our flagship BBC Radio 4 Christmas appeal, a campaign that is now in its 99th year and generates nearly £2m each year.

We have ambitious plans in place to expand our donor base and increase income through our individual giving activity and we are looking for a passionate, strategic professional who can help us turn these plans into reality. This role offers an exciting blend of strategic planning and campaign delivery giving you the chance to make a real difference in supporting our work preventing homelessness.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Project manage multiple direct marketing campaigns delivering accurate campaigns on time, on budget and to a high standard.

• Work across the organisation to gather engaging content for our direct marketing activities. Write and review copy for collateral used for engagement, conversion and acquisition activities.

• Completing relevant campaign management documents including post-activity analysis reports, identifying learnings and recommendations for future campaigns, and writing internal and external briefs.

• Support the Head of Individual Giving with forecasting and reporting across financial and non-financial KPIs in relation to the Individual Giving programme.

• Ensure excellent communication and liaison between the St Martin’s Charity’s Fundraising team, marketing agencies, suppliers and key stakeholders.

• Work with the CRM Manager to ensure that all campaign data is utilised and captured efficiently, effectively and accurately.

• Work with the Senior Digital Marketing Manager to ensure the Charity optimises digital fundraising opportunities in relation to individual giving.

• Acting as a day-to-day contact with external agencies ensuring high quality delivery of campaigns on time and on budget.

• Maintain a close working relationship with the Supporter Care Officer so that they are aware of all activity and able to respond to enquiries and complaints

• Keep abreast of key individual giving fundraising trends and issues and the regulatory environment.

• Ensure all St Martin’s Charity’s Individual Giving communications are consistent with the Charity’s brand values.

Experience

Essential

• Demonstrable experience of project management across a range of direct marketing channels including print and digital.

• Experience of copywriting.

• Experience in researching content for fundraising and marketing materials.

• Experience of writing creative, response fulfilment, data selection and print production briefs.

• Experience of working with agencies, collaborating with them to get the best results. This should include managing creative, print, digital and media agencies.

• Examples of success in contributing to achieving results against targets for fundraising campaigns.

• Planning and budgeting in an individual giving context.

Located in Tower Hamlets, we welcome people of all ages to our large, friendly community centre in Shoreditch where we offer a wide range of activities promoting wellbeing and social connections. Our services include sensory play for Under-5’s, youth programmes, wellbeing activities for those experiencing mental health issues, bilingual advice, and activities to reduce social isolation and enhance physical and mental wellbeing for older people. We also run a day centre in Shadwell, where we care for elders from the Bangladeshi and other communities. 

We employ over 40 staff and engage about 65 volunteers each year. In a recent survey of our staff, more than three-quarters reported St Hilda's as a great place to work, and this role will help embed best practice relating to employment and volunteering to ensure we can build upon this positivity. The postholder will work closely with our Senior Leadership Team and the Board, including a Trustee who has several decades experience as a HR manager and consultant. The role would highly suit someone in the early stages of their career in HR wishing to expand upon their experience or, alternatively, someone with a career in HR behind them, looking for a change of scene and to get involved in a mission driven charity. 

The postholder will provide support and guidance on HR matters to all staff and managers, helping to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Our newly refreshed strategic priorities include a commitment to increasing volunteer participation within the charity’s work, and the postholder will play a key role in implementing this priority by improving our procedures and enhancing our capacity.     

This job is for you, if you: 

• Have at least 2 years’ experience in HR administration and practice, ideally within the charity sector.
• A good working knowledge of employment legislation and best practice in people management. 
• The ability and passion to drive forward an agenda around staff and volunteer engagement and wellbeing. 
• Ability to write organisational policies.
• Demonstrable knowledge of best practice around volunteer management, or the ability to learn quickly.

The Head of High Value Fundraising is responsible for delivering and significantly growing income from Corporate Partnerships, Philanthropy and Trusts and Grants. Leading a team of committed fundraisers, you will develop a robust strategy that delivers mutually beneficial partnerships, outstanding supporter relationships and long-term sustainable income.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES  

Specific Duties 

Leadership

• To lead and inspire the high value team fostering a collaborative and high culture that delivers against income and objectives
• Provide clear and supportive leadership that motivates staff to achieve, develop and grow in their roles
• Undertake quarterly reviews for all direct reports

High Value Fundraising

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with high-value donors, ensuring effective solicitation, stewardship, and follow-up to secure significant contributions (six-figure gifts)
• Build and maintain a portfolio of Trust & Grants supporters. Responsible for researching, approaching and developing compelling applications with a focus on ensuring Trusts & Grants provide a long-term, diverse and sustainable income stream
• Lead the development and stewardship of the Philanthropy board to identify and secure transformational (6-7 figure) gifts and the development of the Business development Board to open opportunities with Corporate Partners
• Write and design a compelling case for support that is tailored to our High Value audiences
• Build a portfolio of corporate partners, including securing high-value, multi-year partnerships. You will work with the team to grow this income stream from prospecting, approaches, applications, pitches, stewardship and providing excellent account management
• Lead on planning and delivering successful high value cultivation events

• Represent Winston’s Wish at fundraising events and meetings with internal and external stakeholders

Strategy, Planning and reporting

• To create and implement a strategy including corporate partnerships, trusts & foundations and major donors
• Lead on developing and delivering effective stewardship journeys and cultivation plans
• Produce regular reports on fundraising activity, analysing performance against targets, and identifying areas for improvement and growth.
• Work with the Director of Income Generation and the Head of Mass Participation Fundraising to develop the annual budget, including leading on monthly performance reports and contributing to quarterly reforecasts and reporting against KPI’s and milestones
• Undertake research and make use of tools to identify potential High Value partners.

Collaboration

• Work closely with the Director of Income Generation, Head of Mass Participation Fundraising, SLT and other teams to maximise high value fundraising opportunities
• Work with the Marketing team to deliver urgent and compelling high value messages tailed for the different audiences
• Work with the Trustees to build networks and increase the reach of Winston’s Wish

• Demonstratable strong strategic planning skills and the ability to develop and implement long-term strategies to achieve fundraising targets and enhance the charity's mission
• Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience in overseeing multi-disciplinary teams. Essential experience includes team leadership, staff motivation, setting clear objectives, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Experience in effectively developing, managing and reporting complex income and expenditure budgets
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels and excellent written skills
• Experience of successfully engaging trustees and/or senior volunteer committees to drive philanthropic income.
• Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
• Strong networking skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

Oversight of Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of around 10 young people each, using coaching skills to transform attitudes to their own ability and the workplace, and to raise their awareness and maximise potential in stepping into the world of work.​
• Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Coach.​
• Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report KPIs on recruitment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees to Resurgo and the Spear Trust, as well as their ongoing progress and sustainment of work or education.

Partnership liaison and relationship management

• Establish the primary local referral agencies and build and implement a strategy for developing relationships with them to ensure recruitment of young people onto the Spear programme is effective. ​
• Maintain and develop relationships with local partners to form a strong referral network.​

Line Management and training

• Manage the Spear Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
• Be line managed by Resurgo to support with the set-up and ongoing operations of the centre and report back on KPIs.

Church Community

• The Spear Centre Manager is directly employed by The Mount, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community.
• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members, and help to establish a strong presence at the church to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme.
• Ensure the Spear programme is a key missional feature of the work of the church; this may involve attending church events and speaking at services.

Site management and set-up

• Work with the Church to set up the training room and IT infrastructure for the new Spear Centre in advance of opening.​
• Liaise with relevant staff locally on-site issues and work to resolve them as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training room are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies.​.
• Other ad hoc church responsibilities from time to time.
